Last Chance to Visit the Full House Home

tree hut blog - full house last chance to visit

From 1987 to 1995, Full house graced our homes each week for 192 episodes. Fans of the sitcom will remember the house featured in the opening credits, known locally as the Painted Ladies. Located in Alamo Square, these house are recognized around the world as an iconic architecture of San Francisco.

 Full House Beginning Cast

Alamo Square is a popular, yet relatively small park when compared to Golden Gate Park in the Richmond and Sunset districts or Delores Park in the Mission. In the opening scenes, the Tanner family rolls around on the luscious green grass that overlooks the Painted Ladies with a back drop of downtown San Francisco. Elevated above the Victorian houses, the square is 229 ft (69 meters) tall and offers an amazing view as balanced as the nature-city dichotomy. For this reason, Alamo Square, is one of the most photographed locations in San Francisco, according to San Francisco Travel

Many sf tourist and residents seek out this house for selfie photos and 90's nostalgia. If you want to do the same then act fast! There's only 4 days left before the park closes. That's right, the park will not be open for Bay to Breakers on May 15th.

Full House ending cast

As of May 10th, 2016, construction will begin on the park. According to San Francisco Recreation and Parks, $4.3 million will be spent to redo the irrigation system, install a wheel-chair accessible bathroom, and to renovate the landscape. Specifically, trees deemed unhealthy or dangerous will be replaced.

Unlike the construction plan for Delores Park, Alamo Square will be completely closed. During Construction of Delores Park, a popular drinking spot for sunny days, only half of the park was closed at a time. This allowed loads of locals to continue the party during construction. However, this will not be the case for Alamo Square.

Fun Facts

Most people think the full house home is one of the Painted Ladies. The house is actually located at 1709 Broderick Street, San Francisco.

The address of the house on the show is 1882 Girard Street. Episode 190 shows DJ standing in front of the house marked 1882. Though, Jesse tells a women to come over at 1883 in one episode and in episode 190, Stephanie sneakily tells a boy to come to 1881.

How long will the park be closed?

The park is out of commission for 9 months and is set to reopen in February 2017. So no epic elevated shots of the painted ladies in the foreground of the city landscape. No 90's nostalgia selfies from the lawn above the houses. At least, you can visit the actual full house home on Broderick Street.
