Perfect Wooden Watch for a Holiday | 15 New Year Resolutions You Can Actually Keep

New year, new me! HOLLA!

It’s that time of the year again! You know, where you promise yourself you’re going to stay on top of that “new year resolution”. It’s ok, you’re not the only one that fails or gets lazy mid-year. Let me guess, you probably want to lose weight, eat healthier, or travel more right? Although those are all good new year resolutions, they’re the most basic and the easiest to fail. No offense, and congrats to the few that actually follow through.

Lucky for you, we created a list of new year resolutions that are actually obtainable and not a pain to follow through with. They’re simple and you don’t have to starve yourself to be a better you for this new year.

  1. Do one thing at a time.

Daily, weekly, and monthly lists will keep you organized and give you a peace of mind knowing that everything is getting done without the hassle of stressing so much.

  1. Use the stairs.

This is not to lose weight, taking the stairs is just to make sure you’re squeezing some kind of cardio into your already hectic day. Don’t be lazy!

  1. Sanitize your phone weekly

Imagine all the unsanitary things you touch all day and then you grab your phone and put it to your face to answer a call. Gross!

  1. Plan a vacation

Even if it’s a stay-cation. Take some time to unwind, rest, and recharge

  1. Volunteer

There are so many foundations and non-profits you can volunteer at. Do something for someone else for a change and see how great it feels.

  1. Explore new hobbies

Go to your local craft store and pick up a brush or a new cookbook. You’d be surprised how many people have hidden talents.

  1. Donate old clothes

Come on, I know you have tons of clothes you don’t wear anymore or even have tags on them. If they haven’t been worn in a year, part ways and donate.

  1. Be Present

Unfortunately, it is now human nature to pick up your phone and check social media constantly. Try not to pick up your phone during valuable times like time being spent with friends, family and even at dinner.

  1. Stay on top of current events

With so much going on in the world around us, we have to stay informed and up to date on what’s going on. No need to read the paper anymore, news outlets can easily be reached on your smartphone and handheld devices

  1. Trust your instinct

Something that almost always works in our favor. I’m all about taking chances, but if you have a funny feeling in your gut, think twice.

  1. Stop procrastinating

We’re all guilty of this. Especially at the worst times, but don’t let it be a bad habit anymore. The hardest part is getting started after that don’t stop until it’s done!

  1. Forgive

Easier said than done, but it takes far too much negative energy to carry grudges or unsolved issues. Forgiving isn't just about saying sorry or accepting what happened it’s about moving on.

  1. Watch less T.V

There are countless things you can do than splurge on a Netflix show for 5 hours. Try going for a walk, pick up a new book, or get those things done that you keep putting off for “tomorrow”.

  1. Learn to let go

Similar to forgiving, but this one is for yourself. Accept what can’t be changed and move on.

  1. Make your bed every morning

Something so simple like making your bed every morning can make for a better day. Having a tidy room gives an instant feel-good feeling.

There you have it, easy New Year resolutions that you won’t hate doing and will make a small difference in the new year. I hope this year is full of growth and happiness for you all!
