Some might envision their ideal date as a walk on the beach, sipping pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain... but there's nothing more romantic than a leisurely stroll in a beautiful garden. Sometimes the most memorable moments are the most silent and serene. 

 

1. Portland Japanese Garden

Portland Japanese Garden is extremely scenic and one of the best Japanese gardens outside of the Land of the Rising Sun itself. Spread over five and a half acres of land, the garden offers complete aesthetic visuals and tranquility that touches all the right chords of senses and harmonizes the garden with human imagination.

The garden was developed in five variations: the flat garden, strolling pond garden, tea garden, sand & stone garden and natural garden. There are other elements too, such as the grand pagoda, stone lanterns, water basins, bridges, and retreats. The pagoda is an excellent place to sit down with your significant other and just watch the garden moving around you. The asymmetrical planning of the garden is like a walk in an upscale art gallery, harboring paintings of pathways, flowers, leafy plants, bridges, water bodies, sand, and stones with astounding Mount Hood in the background.

2. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

It was designed to educate about plant world, promote the best in horticulture design plan, and to be a leader in all the horticultural endeavors.The garden has much to offer in its extensive plant collection, exotic flower displays that change from season to season, spectacular landscapes, a classically developed plant conservatory, and outstanding activities for kids and elders to understand plants. But educational merits aside, it's truly a gorgeous place to just stroll on a Sunday afternoon.

 

3. Desert Botanical Garden

Location: Papago Park, N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, Central AZ

This Desert Botanical Garden may be in the midst of 140 acres of arid land, but it's extremely fertile with beauty. The garden boasts an assortment of 50,000 varieties of dry-land flowers and plants that are displayed schematically and tastefully. Its theme of desert plantation educates visitors about for their conservation and water retention techniques in desert plants. The garden organizes lectures and workshops from time to time on desert plantations, horticulture, and ways to acquire dry land botanical skills. If you and your partner are an avid succulent collector, this may be the perfect garden for you. Just don't get pricked by any cacti while kissing in the garden!

4. New York Botanical Garden

Location: 2900 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY

A national historic landmark, New York Botanical Garden is over 250-acres of greenery with over one million living plants organized for public display. This garden generates one of the most comprehensive research in various plants and their conservation by covering all aspects from discovering new species to plant molecular biology. Millions of visitors throng the premises for both leisure and education. With its stunningly colorful flowers, it's hands-down the best spot for selfies.

 

5. UC Davis Arboretum

Location: Putah Creek, Davis, CA

The UC Davis Arboretum is spread over in 100 acres of land with over 22,000 trees and plants acclimatized to a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The plants are organized in a chain of gardens according to geographic areas, plant families, and horticultural themes. Davis' hot climate carries scarcity of water and heat issues; this is where their research excels. The Arboretum includes a rustic boat ramp, in which college students are notoriously known for sneaking on at night and catching a glimpse of the stars. 

 

6. Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens is in a sprawling 1077 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. Accordingly, it's a well maintained area with over eleven thousand assorted plants, ranging from unique flowers, aquatic plants, and a water garden with a well-developed conservatory. Visitors are immersed in its lengthy history (it was founded in 1700!) as well as its mystical appearance. If you're visiting with your date, be sure to check out the fountain night display.

 

7. Coastal Maine Garden

Location: 132 Botanical Gardens, Dr. Boothbay, ME 

Coastal Maine Botanical Garden

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden in 270 acres with more than a mile of waterfront on Barters Island Road and one of the few waterfront gardens in the U.S.. Its unique point is in its native plants, pathways, ornamental gardens, woodland trails and sculpturing & outdoor art. For a truly amorous outing, go boating with your significant other while the two of you admire the surrounding scenery.
