Weird Facts You Didn't Know About U.S Presidents

We bet you didn’t learn most of these facts during U.S History. Hey, presidents are just people after all, aren’t they?

George Washington was a tough man to kill.
The first president had, at various points, diphtheria, tuberculosis, smallpox, malaria, dysentery, Quinsy, carbuncle, and pneumonia. Yikes. He even survived the burning and massacre of Fort Necessity, two horses being shot out from under him, and four bullets passing close enough to pierce his clothing.

Andrew Johnson was a fashionable man.

This president was the only one that was a tailor. He would usually stop by a tailor shop to say hello and only wore suits he made himself!

President Bush Sr. is responsible for the creation of a Japanese word.

After he vomited on the Japanese Prime Minister during his 12-day trade-oriented trip to Asia and the Pacific, a new word entered the Japanese language. Bushusuru means “to do the Bush thing,” or to vomit in public.

Lincoln could fix a cocktail.

The 16th president of the United States is the only to have been a licensed bartender. He co-owned Berry and Lincoln (a saloon in Springfield, Illinois).

James A. Garfield was ambidextrous.
Not only could this president write with both his right and left hand, but he could even write with both at the same time!
