She's got the rural rhythm!
Not very many people can say they’ve lived on a farm, but Kiah Stromme (@kiahstromme) is very familiar with that rural rhythm--you might even say it’s in her blood (read more below). It would take her leaving it behind to pave a new path in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she still lives with her husband.
We were thankful for the chance to chat with her!
What’s your story? Where did you grow up and what were your hobbies and obsessions growing up? Where do you call home now?
I was born in Summerville, South Carolina and my family moved to Minnesota when I was 8. My dad was in the Navy and always knew he wanted to move back to where he grew up. When he retired after 17 years of service we moved back to the farm place he grew up on. It has been in our family for over 100 years!
I went to college in Minneapolis to experience the city and fell in love. My husband and I live there with our beta fish, Poseidon (until we can get a dog). But I will always cherish my childhood memories being free on the farm.
Sleep in, exercise, read, lounge with my husband, lay in the sun, order in and have a glass of wine. Maybe play some Bomber Man :) (nerdy, I know). I am very simple.
Do you have a favorite set of words or quote you keep close to the heart?
Faith over fear. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
If you could live anywhere in the world at any point in time and take any one person, where would you go and with whom?
I would love to explore and live in Thailand with my husband.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
I would love to be very decisive!
What is your most treasured memory?
My wedding day and being at the birth of my niece and nephew.
Who, or what, inspires you most?
I am a Pure Barre instructor and my clients inspire me so much! Learning all their stories is amazing and humbling. They show up and work so hard and all have so much going on. It shows me we all have struggles and it’s important to support one another.
I love oldies!
I am a lefty and I was homeschooled.
If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?
What a great question! I’d love to always have the body of a 30-year-old to be able to do so many things. But I think I’d rather have a sharp mind!
Empathy and patience.
