How to Remove Stains From Wood

We love wooden furniture, floors, and watches for their natural beauty, but despite regular care and maintenance, every now and then an accident leaves an ugly stain. Surprisingly, you don’t need to spend a fortune or remove stains from wood, because our DIY methods are pretty simple and effective!

As a first step, it’s very important to know what each stain looks like, such as water stains are faded, and heat stains are white. But beware that removal of stains comes at a risk, which is why we’ve compiled some methods by the pros for different kinds of stains you might come across.

How to Remove Water Stains from Wood

If you have spilled water on wood, don't worry. There are plenty of ways you can clean water off the wood. You could use your hairdryer (on low settings and keep it moving so that the wood does not overheat). This will dry up the water nicely. You can also use toothpaste (preferably one that is non-gel and non-whitening) and use that to clean the stain.

How to Remove Grease Stains from Wood

If you hate grease stains on wood, lucky for you there is a three-step process that can take care of the problem altogether.

  1. The first step is to remove the grease by soaking it up. For this, you can use anything from paper towels to blotting paper. This way you will be able to control the stain.
  2. Once you've soaked up the grease, now you remove all the grease that is still left. For this purpose, you could use a detergent but be careful because just a few drops will usually be plenty for the job.
  3. After removing the grease, the wood needs extra care. To do that you can use care oil or wax to treat the wood after you are done removing grease. This step will ensure that the wood is safe from moisture for the next 6 months.

How to Remove Ink Stains from Wood

When it comes to ink stains, the best thing you can do is try and blot them as much as possible. For this, use a clean white cloth.

If the stain is still there, you should use baking soda. This is because it becomes slightly abrasive with water. After mixing the two, you need to rub the mixture on the wood but try not to rub very hard because then the mixture will be able to penetrate through the wood.

And that's it! Your wood should now be free of any ink stains.

How to Remove Heat Stains from Wood

Heat stains are usually pretty easy to remove. Start by taking a dry iron and placing a clean towel over the stained area.

Then, run the iron over the towel for a few seconds. The heat will help to lift the stain from the wood.

If the stain is still there, you can try using a little bit of toothpaste on it. Rub the toothpaste into the stain and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

And that's all there is to it! These simple methods should help you remove any stains from wood. Just be sure to test them out in an inconspicuous area first to make sure they won't damage your furniture. And always take care when working with chemicals or hot items near wood!

How to Remove Stains from Wooden Watches

If you have a wooden watch, and you are wondering how to get rid of a stain, don’t worry. The tips mentioned above work great for wooden watches as well but we will give you a simple guide to take care of most of the stains that a wooden watch might get. You can use a mixture of lemon juice and olive oil, in equal amounts, and use cotton buds to wipe the stain off. Through this, your watch will keep its shine and beauty and will be free of stains. Just be sure to wipe the watch off thoroughly after using this solution.
